Thank you for your interest in reaching out and connecting with the ASCMRC. We are a non-profit advocacy organization committed to promoting and preserving the legacy of the Americus-Sumter County Civil Rights Movement, and its pivotal role in securing passage of the historic Voting Rights Act of 1965.

The ASCMRC is committed to establishing the Americus-Sumter County Civil Rights Museum and Cultural Center at the Historic Colored Hospital. This work involves an ambitious agenda that includes the restoration and rehabilitation of the Colored Hospital for use as a Community Cultural Center. Upon completion, the center will serve as interactive facility focused on collecting and displaying the history of the Americus Movement, the Americus Colored Hospital, and the African American family history of Sumter County Georgia. Community volunteers will be an essential component of this initiative and the ASCMRC welcomes you as a partner.
